Christmas 🎄Tradition: there are two very famous Christmas Trees in Washington DC, the first being the National Christmas Tree which has been traditionally lit by the President and First Lady since 1923. The current 40-foot Colorado blue spruce has been there since 1978 (transplanted from Pennsylvania). Representing all the states, territories and the District of Columbia, 56 smaller decorated trees were planted around the National Christmas Tree in 1954 to create the "Pathway of Peace".
